Simulation of Biomass Partial Oxidation
Tukač, V. ; Hanika, Jiří ; Veselý, Václav ; Kovač, D. ; Lederer, J.
Paper was focussed to mathematical modelling of complex chemical equilibrium playing role during gassification of biomass in oil suspension in pilot plant reactor. Simulation results were compared with pilot plant experiments with rape meal suspension in high boiling hydrocarbon fiction. Data are usefull for process design and reactor scale-up.

Aerosol Nanoparticles Formed during Plasma Deposition
Ždímal, Vladimír ; Moravec, Pavel ; Doležal, B. ; Brožek, Vlastimil ; Neufuss, Karel
Results of pilot-plant experiments on a plasmatron WSPR constructed at the Institute of IPP AS CR are shown in this paper, dealing with plasma deposition of the ultrafine and fine aerosol fractions of some metallic materials. In this work we concentrated on its side-product investigating the ultrafine particles released during the process into the aerosol phase. The aerosol particle size distribution was studied in a near real time using the state-of-the-art aerosol spectrometers operated by the ICPF AS CR. It was verified that these instruments are able to take aerosol samples in the close vicinity of a high-temperature plasma and still provide sensible results. In the present work we discussed the possibility to produce aerosol nanoparticles of a defined composition and properties by the plasmatron technique.

Total Oxidation of Organic Compounds in Air over Oxide Catalysts
Ludvíková, Jana ; Jirátová, Květa ; Kovanda, F. ; Klempa, Jan
The aim of this work was investigation of the influence of various combinations of metals, Cu, Co, Ni, Mn or Al on properties of LDH (layered double hydroxides)-precursors and their calcined forms, examination of formation of these layered double hydroxides on a model support (anodized aluminum foil), and determination of catalytic activity of the calcined precursors in oxidation of ethanol as model compound.

Degradation of Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers
Vajglová, Zuzana ; Vychodilová, Hana ; Kotas, Petr ; Kaštánek, František ; Jiřičný, Vladimír
In order to decrease the environmental impact of PBDE’s and to stop their spread in the food chain, the different degradation methods have been investigated. One of the relatively newly developed methods for the degradation of polybrominated diphenyl ethers is a method of electrochemical degradation. Electrochemically generated hydrogen atoms are more reactive, even under much milder conditions than the conventional method of reducing degradation of polybrominated diphenyl ethers.

Extraction of Tall Soap by Use of Selected Organic Solvents
Rousková, Milena ; Heyberger, Aleš
The aim of this study was to compare yields of phytosterols by use of liquid-liquid-extraction when several extraction solvents, recommended in literature sources, were used. Hexane, limonene, isobutanol, methyl isobutyl ketone and methyl tert-butyl ether were tested. These solvents differ in polarity. Largest yields of total phytosterols (67%) and especially of the beta sitosterol (89%) were reached when isobutanol was used. Disadvantages of most of the tested solvents were formation of the undesirable solid interphase, which could not be removed, their partial solubility in water phase and/or their high boiling point.
